Creative children from across the world are being given the opportunity to showcase their artistic skills thanks to a unique competition being hosted in Sharjah. The organising committee of Sharjah Children Biennial (SCB) has announced that registration for its fifth annual competition is now open, with youngsters aged 6-12 years from around the globe old invited to participate and let their talents shine.

 

With categories that cover the artistic fields of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and pottery, SCB, organised by the Sharjah Children Centres, is encouraging all children - wherever they reside in the world - to submit their application forms by logging on to the organisation’s official website: www.scbiennial.ae. Visitors accessing the site can find information about the competition’s three artwork categories: Architecture Design, Environment, and Fantasy & Reality.

 

Also included on the SCB website are the competition’s conditions and criteria for entry. SCB is accepting individual or group submissions, with applicants free to submit their work in any of the three categories. Each applicant is allowed to submit a maximum of two works of art.

 

Applicants wishing to apply are required to complete all relevant sections of the application form and attach it to the back of their artwork before sending it to the following address: UAE, Gov. of Sharjah, Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Sharjah Children Centres, P.O Box: 27433. The deadline for all submissions is December 5, 2016.

 

Founded in 2008, SCB provides a platform for unleashing children’s and young adults’ creativity and artistic talents. The first and largest GCC art exhibition of its kind, the activity has grown considerably over the past four years thanks to the quantity and quality of the submitted artwork, as well as the high standards set by its judging panel.

 

“SCB is a stand-out initiative regionally and internationally as it plays a key role in honing children’s artistic talents and enhancing their creative capabilities. We expect to receive a wealth of submissions for the fifth edition of the SCB, following the great success of the previous edition that saw entrants from 11 Arab and non-Arab countries taking part. The competition has become a leading artistic platform that nurtures children’s talents,” said Hessa Al Zaabi, Head of Media Section at the Sharjah Children Centre.

 

“For this year’s edition of SCB we are focusing on group submissions in order to promote the concept of teamwork and collaboration. By providing different categories we are giving youngsters a channel to showcase their creativity and innovation, which we hope will enable them to dream big. Through the competition we aspire to build children’s capabilities and enable them to express themselves in an artistic way. Creative kids always try to explore and discover new things,” added Al Zaabi.
