patronages Fashion Design Department Students show at Lexus Showroom

Dar Al-Hekma University’s Fashion Design Department held incollaboration with Abdrul Latif Jameel Company a women-only fashion designevent showcasing the works of Fashion Design Department students under thetheme “Cultural Variety”. The event, which took place on Friday 12 April 2019was followed by an exhibition open for the public at Lexus Abdulatif JameelShowroom on Madinah Road, Jeddah.

The designs of the graduates participating in the event wereinspired from different global cultures without compromising the Islamic valuesand customs or the culture of Saudi fashion. Princess Noura Faisal Al-Saud presidedover the panel of judges, comprising renowned Saudi fashion designers, toassess the graduated students’ fashion design works.

In line with Dar Al-Hekma University’s traditions forhonoring outstanding graduates, the designs on display were assessed based onaccurate professional standards. The three winners were given incentive awards.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Suhair Al-Qurashi, President ofDar Al-Hekma University said the university is proud of its partnership withLexus Abdulatif Jameel, which represents a unique partnership in the Kingdomwith the participation of creative students from the Fashion Design Department.

She noted, “This year’s event represents the university’smessage and goals and highlights its keenness to equip its students with high-caliberskills that meet the evolving requirements and needs of the labor market andkeep up with the requirements of the 21stcentury. The exhibitionfalls in line with our social and Islamic values and reflects the university’sconstant efforts to hold partnerships with different educational andprofessional institutions. We are proud of our fashion designers who will leavea positive and lasting imprint locally and globally.”

Dr. Sanaa Abbasi, chairwoman of Fashion Design Departmentsaid the Fashion Design Program falls in line with the objectives of Vision2030 as it prepares young talented and ambitious women to compete on local andinternational levels, thanks to the fashion design program courses, whichequipped them with the know-how and professional skills. This event is a proofthat Dar Al-Hekma Fashion Design Department’s students possess the knowledgeand capabilities that make them compete globally in this market.

Dr. Sanaa Abbasi thanked Abdul Latif Jameel Company for itscontinued support and for hosting this event.
