Jannah Burj Al Sarab is excited to announce the appointment of new Executive Chef Wafi Halimi to oversee the kitchen operations in the five-star hotel located along Meena Road in Abu Dhabi’s city center. 

Born in Corsica, an island southeast of France, but grew up in Algeria, Wafi brings with him 17 years of experience in the kitchen, starting with his first appointment in 1999 at Hotel Sheraton Club Des Pins Resort & Tower in Algeria, where he worked his way up to Chef de Partie. His experience is further honed with several five-star hotel chains in various cities across Middle East and France before his first foray into Abu Dhabi in January this year.

 

In his first appointment as Executive Chef, his focus would be to revamp the hotel’s menus and dining concepts, in addition to overseeing the culinary operations, as well as the training and development of a team of eight.  

 

“My culinary focus is in French and Mediterranean cuisine; I aim to marry traditional cooking concepts with my take on modern techniques, which will hopefully put Jannah Burj Al Sarab on the forefront of contemporary dining in United Arab Emirates,” said Wafi. 

 

“I am also very eager to learn and share my knowledge with the team as nothing inspires creativity more than living in a new country and learning about its’ culture and traditions; while implementing that into my craft,” Wafi continued.

 

An advocate of healthy living, Wafi relaxes in his free time with playing football and rugby. “As the saying goes: healthy body; healthy mind – in order for me to give my best at work, I set aside time to take care of my health as well,” said Wafi.
