Governmental qualification document for consortia and companies to participate in Management, operation and maintenance of the Saudi water sector

The National Water Company (NWC), a Saudi company fully owned by the government, announced the issuance of a Request for Qualification (RFQ), which requires interested contractors, consortia and companies to provide their Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) via the NWC website at (www.nwc.com.sa). Qualified contractors, consortia and companies will be able participate in the management, operation and maintenance (MOM) tenders issued by the water distribution sector to provide water services in Saudi Arabia.

The importance of this document lies in the fact that the sector is planning to offer a series of water and environmental projects for bidding to the public and private sectors. However, an earlier announcement by the Minster of Environment, Water and Agriculture, HE Eng Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadley, stated that some SAR300 billion are to be invested in the Saudi water sector up to 2030.

The RFQ comes in accordance with the future direction of the sector and the Saudi Master Plan for water and wastewater. It is also in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the NTP initiatives and objectives, which include the implementation of many infrastructure projects nationwide, and the creation of an organizational and corporate environment where elite specialists form both public and private sectors can participate, in addition to employing more professional and sustainable mechanisms to execute water projects in the Kingdom.
