Concerted effort to promote good values

Government agencies and national companies are working together to launch a project to promote good values among children. The move is in accordance with the Saudi National Drug Prevention Program (Nebras), inaugurated recently by Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Mohammed bin Naïf.
The government agencies involved in the work are the National Anti-Narcotics Control Commission (NNCC), General Directorate for Combating Drugs, Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) and Sabic (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.).

Abdulilah bin Mohammed Al-Sharif, NNCC secretary general, said, “The program will focus on protecting our children from drugs, wayward thought with the aim of enhancing social and moral values and to develop their personality.”

He said that all the sessions will be carried out under the direct supervision of Nebras’ executive committee.
The project has various programs that include the family and the school. “The family program aims to raise awareness and protection of families from the dangers of drugs and methods for early detection of the effects of drug abuse among children,” he said, adding that it also aims to contain the effects of drug abuse as well as help in their treatment.
