Registration in Citizen’s Fund begins

Registration in the Citizen’s Fund begins Wednesday all over the Kingdom through the program’s electronic gate, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development has announced.

According to the ministry, as many as 896,957 beneficiaries of the social security assistance have automatically been registered with the fund.

“These beneficiaries do not have to register again in the program but they can check their data for any updating any time after March 1,” said Majed Al-Ossaimi, supervisor of the fund.

Ossaimin explained that registration is done through one platform on the account’s link wherein the citizen will enter a password, his/her telephone number and the date of birth according to the lunar calendar before completing the required data under seven other steps.

He said as many as 444 centers have been established in various parts of the Kingdom to register the citizens who are not able to deal with the modern technology. “These offices are the only accredited bodies to register citizens free of charge. The electronic registration is open 24 hours a day,” he said.

The account was established to help low and medium income Saudis bear the cost of living which is expected to soar up after the government subsidies are abolished from a number of vital commodities including, fuel, electricity and water.

Under the fund’s statute, any Saudi individual whose monthly income is less than SR21,000 is entitled to financial assistance.

“The financial assistance will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries,” Ossaimi said.

He said citizens with commercial registrations can also register in the account depending on their monthly income.
