Women take up 22% of Volkswagen sales

SAMACO Automotive Company, the exclusive dealer for Volkswagen in Saudi Arabia, announced the achievement of significant growth in its sales at the end of 2018, compared with the same period of last year.

Commenting on the positive factors that led to the sales growth, Mohammed Moussa, General Manager for Volkswagen at Samaco, said: “There are many factors that contributed to the increased sales results last year, most significantly the high turnout of women choosing to own a Volkswagen model, which  accounted for 22% of our total clients. Furthermore,  we launched new models, including two new Volkswagen SUVs, the all new Touareg and our first 7 seater Teramont which were introduced to our customers. Both vehicles offer advanced technical features to suit a range of family types, but at competitive prices.”

He added: “Last year’s results show that our Volkswagen Tiguan is a perfect vehicle for this market and also for female customers due to the functionality of the vehicle and the safety of the brand. This high demand accounted for 39% of our overall sales, making it the most popular model. It was then followed by the Teramont which is saw 28% of sales after its introduction and we look forward to seeing this increase next year, and finally followed by the popular Passat sedan making up 17%.”

Despite the negative predications for the automotive industry in Saudi Arabia, Volkswagen saw volume sales increases from the first month of 2018 which then continued throughout the year, resulting in a positive overall result for the brand in the market. Volkswagen now has a strong line up of SUVs alongside classic sedans which enables the brand to offer a suitable model for all types of customers.
