The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) has registered an unprecedented number of foreign visitors to the historic city of Petra with more than 500,000 visitors in overall in the first half of 2019. 

The chief commissioner of the PDTRA, Suleiman Farajat told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) Monday that the number of foreign visitors to the Pink city of Petra has seen to 71 percent rise during the month of June compared with the same month of last year. 

The number of tourists in the first half of the year stood at some 533,000, including 473,000, exceeding that of 2010 that registered some 472,000 including 421,000 foreigners.
