It was an astonishing evening on the 3rd of August at Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana which had the pleasure of welcoming guests to the opening night of the Welcome Kazakhstan Art Exhibition. It was a night of excitement and exploration into the tradition and ways of life of the Kazakh people through the eyes of its artists.

 

As works of Felt fashioned by Gulzhanat draped gracefully from the high points in the lobby, encircled by 60 pieces of art created by about 50 artists including Tainov Serik and Liliya Kim, varied selection of fashion pieces of clothes by Saule and silver jewelry ornaments.  Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana welcomed the esteemed artists and their remarkable creations, guests embarked on a journey of discovery and admiration as artists guided them through the beauty which is the Kazakhstan, its people and their culture through their creations.

 

The exhibition opened with a glamorous fashion show of Saule’s elegant fabric designs. Her Felt garments were modeled by her students from Kazakhstan who walked the lobby ramp in her innovative designs which were a combination of Kazakh ornament in modern clothe shapes. The varying collection of Kazakhstan art revealed that the use of Felt is an old tradition of the Kazakh people and was perfectly portrayed in both the garment designs and in the art creations of all the artists in attendance.

 

Tainov Serik’s portrayal of the Kazakh people through his realist paint strokes exposed guests to both the traditional and modern evolution of Kazakhstan. The manner in which he captures the real emotion of the subject of his affection in his paintings were described as classical depiction history in a contemporary perspective.

 

Particularly intriguing were the silver ornaments which were an amazing sight as they simmered in the glow and sparked under the evening light. The art collection were evocative and captivating, they displayed the artists love and fascination for their culture and people.  The audience experienced the Kazakhstan culture through the eyes its various artists.

The exhibition continues until the 8th of August and is open to the general public from 6.00pm till 11.00pm.
