Visitors to Taif Season Hear Story of Incense Road at Village of Roses

Taif Season provides visitors with the story of a city blessed with wealth, an abundance of produce, mild climate, and a rich historical heritage, with events and activities that combine entertainment and education. One of the stories portrayed in the Village of Roses is about the incense road.

The Taif region was historically famous for the incense road, which was travelled by caravans of merchants carrying incense and perfumes from Amman to Taif through the ports. Visitors to Taif Season can learn more about this history at the Village of Roses, where stories that have been carried in the memories of rose growers for generations are recounted today.

The “Taif rose” became the most prominent economic product in the city, with qualities and properties that are scarce globally. Historically, people in Taif introduced the rose to the region, and it flourished in the soil, becoming of high economic value.

Today, Taif has more than 900 rose farms, and every year during the harvest season – which lasts from nine to 15 days – they hold a festival, where rose makers and farm owners display their products, such as perfume, rose water, skin care, and rose-infused foodstuffs. The Village of Roses provides visitors with quality entertainment events that bring this festival to life, and highlight the status, history and culture of Taif, establishing its position as a major Arab tourism destination.
