UAE IAA and Dubai Aviation City Corporation hold Government Innovation Forum 2016

UAE Internal Auditors Association, in collaboration with the Internal Audit and Risk Assessment Group at Dubai Aviation City Corporation, held Government Innovation Forum 2016 at Jumeirah Creek Hotel, Dubai on Sunday, November 20, 2016. The forum emphasized on the importance of promoting a culture of innovation, creativity and enrichment amongst auditors in government and private sectors to enhance the quality of internal audit in the times ahead. The event also highlighted the essence of strengthening the competence of internal audit professionals and encouraging them to find innovative ideas and profound solutions in the field of Internal Audit within the region and beyond.

The forum was attended by elite speakers from various government sectors. Lieutenant Mohammed Issa Al-Marri, Head of “Department of Revenue Audits and Processes” in the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs, talked about “Innovation in Government Services”. In his presentation, he spoke about the essence of innovation and professional creativity in internal audit. At the same time, Dr. Ashraf Ahmed Mujahd, Internal Audit advisor at Roads and Transport Authority, talked about "Innovation in Internal Audit". He emphasized that professional creativity among employees can be successfully achieved by providing extensive assistance and advice to them.

The forum also discussed innovative solutions for the future and the vital role that officials play in encouraging each employee within the organization to participate in exchange of ideas and constructive interactions to elevate the internal auditing profession. Internal Auditing facilitates accuracy which is critical to maintain the economic balance for any sector. The forum also recognized the power of Innovation Week as a global platform for effective and radical ideas to provide the best service.

Mrs. Mariam Ahmed Marzouki, Vice-chief Audit Executive at Group Chief of the Internal Audit Association, asserted the importance of continuous development of individuals, institutions and services at different levels in the internal audit profession. She also highlighted the need for a clear strategy to work on providing an innovative environment for institutions and audit related bodies in the country for the advancement and consolidation of the auditing profession.

Mr. Abdul Qader Obaid Ali, President of UAE IAA, remarked, “We are keen to discuss innovation and commitment because it has been proven over the years that the improvement of an organization and even a nation lies in their ability to innovate. Creativity plays an important role as it raises the standards of services and professionals. We need to start raising the level of creative awareness within the internal audit profession to create a rich atmosphere of creativity and innovation that will help in accomplishing optimal professionalism.”
