TOP PERFORMANCE HONOUR FOR NISSAN GT-R R35

The Nissan GT-R R35 has been selected 'Best Sports Car' in the Top Performance Car of the Decade awards, a huge accolade for the iconic vehicle.

The award was presented at the Performance Fest DXB staged at Dubai Autodrome. Top Performance is a highly-regarded Middle East online magazine covering performance tuning and motor sports.
Samir Cherfan, managing director, Nissan Middle East, says: “The Nissan GT-R is the Nissan halo car. We all remember the spectacular reaction it caused when unveiled on the Nissan stand at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007. Since then the extraordinary momentum has continued unabated.
“Motorists in the Middle East love performance vehicles and the Nissan GT-R embodies every aspect of the word. It has a special allure that clearly resonated with the judges at Top Performance as it has with customers and fans. We are extremely proud of this award because we are so proud of the Nissan GT-R.”

The choice of the Nissan GT-R R35 as the decade’s top sports car was based on the following criteria: Performance, technology, design, innovation, heritage, suitability for high performance tuning, popularity among the leading tuning companies, records set by the car (on race tracks, drag strips etc), cult status, value for money, practicality, the portal writers’ driving impressions from street to racetrack, and driving impressions of highly modified units.

Top Performance considered sports cars of the last decade within the price range of $200,000 and found the Nissan GT-R was clear winner of its class.
Since its release, the Nissan GT-R has been recognized as the world's foremost high performance super sports car, which embodies Nissan's commitment to "innovation that excites like no other”, according to the Japanese automaker.
Cherfan says the Nissan GT-R's DNA endures as the ultimate GT (Grand Tourer), armed with a comfortable ride, a high level of refinement and benchmark fit and finish.
“It’s world-class high performance embodies the ‘R’ in its name (Racing technology). Thus, its multi-performance character allows the driver to enjoy the full depths of the Nissan GT-R's capabilities, whether navigating corners of a winding mountain road, simply cruising on the open highway or even running errands on neighborhood streets.”
The stunning supercar generates 550 PS and 628 Nm or torque, with a max speed of 315 km/h.

The Nissan GT-R meant business from moment from the first time it rolled out of the garage with that distinctive growl. During testing in 2007, the all-new Nissan GT-R created a sensation when it posted an official seven-minute, 38.5-second lap of the Nurburgring – the fastest lap ever for a production car.
But much more was to come. In 2009, the Nissan GT-R sent another shock wave through the performance world with an unofficial time of seven minutes, 26.7 seconds. Then in May 2012, the Nissan GT-R returned to the Nurburgring to compete in a grueling 24-hour race. Against genuine race cars, the stock production Nissan GT-R took incredible punishment, but was able not only to finish, but was first in class.

Committed to always be improving, on September 30, 2013, the all-new 2014 Nissan GT-R Nismo with the Nismo N Attack Package took to the Nurburgring, and ran an amazing seven minutes, 8.679, reaffirming it as the fastest volume production car in the world.
“Because where others see a finish line, we just see the start of the next lap,” Nissan said at the time.
