"Their Suhoor Is on Us” Initiative Concludes Successfully With Over 40’000 Meals Distributed

The second edition of “Their Suhoor is on Us” initiative, launched this Ramadan by the Community Development Authority and sponsored by Barclays among others, has concluded successfully with the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

 

The initiative, which falls in line with the principles of the Year of Zayed and to promote giving and charity, focussed on supporting labourers throughout the Holy month of Ramadan as recognition for their efforts and hard work to help in building the future of the country, through distributing 1,200 Suhour meal parcels on daily basis to beneficiaries in different areas of the Emirate.

 

Commenting on the success of the initiative, Halima Mohammed, Head of the Youth Council of the CDA, said: “We are delighted to see the efforts of government, private institutions and individuals to be part of initiatives and programs that benefit the community. The success of the campaign has achieved in its second year would not have been possible without the efforts of all parties involved.” 

 

More than 1,000 volunteers from organizations and sponsoring companies participated in the initiative, including 112 volunteers from Barclays who worked closely with the Community Development Authority team to prepare and distribute over 32,000 meals throughout the month to labourers, at mosques in Al Quoz, Bur Dubai and Deira.
 

Commenting on the activity, Dania Haffar Bazzy, Chief of Staff, Barclays PLC, MENA, said: “We are honoured to take part in this great initiative which promotes the values of the father of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed. We would like to thank the Community Development Authority for leading on this great initiative, as well as everyone who participated and ensured its success.”

 

She added: “The dedication of the volunteers supporting this noble initiative reflects the true spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the commitment that each one of us should have to support the community in which we live.”

 

This year’s edition of “Their Suhour is on Us” was sponsored by Barclays, Smart Dubai, Union Co-op, du, Aswaq and Sadia, and was organised in collaboration with the UAE Food Bank, Dubai Police, Civil Aviation Authority, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Department and Dubai Ambulance Youth Council.
