The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup 2020 launches February 1st

The Royal Commission for AlUla and the official organiser of Winter at Tantoura Festival announces the launch of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup of Endurance (Al-Fursan Forum) 2020 on February 1st, in cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation. The race is one of the most fundamental and prominent endurance races globally.

It is a two-star classification race covering 120km over four loops stretching across the enchanting desert and mountains of AlUla, connecting the prestige of this race with the fantastic environment of the area. The race highlights the efforts of the Royal Commission for AlUla in preserving the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The relationship of AlUla with horses extends for thousands of years; the effects of this relationship are found in archaeological inscriptions on the rocks of Jabal 'Akma and Al-Aqrah. The engravings of horses spread across the Arabian Peninsula comprise multiple artistic styles—indicated by their early existence—on rocky facades in large sizes, dating back more than 8000 years. The engravings also showed the evolution of man's relationship with horses in the Arabian Peninsula, how human beings tamed these magnificent creatures a long time ago, and the role of these horses in the development of civilised human beings

It is worth noting that over 200 contestants participated in last year's race, including a selection of equestrians from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and abroad. The equestrians will compete in this year's race for an award worth 15 million Saudi riyals, making it one of the most significant awards in the world of endurance racing.

The Fursan Forum will be held during the weekend and will include the most notable cultural and sports events of the season at this year's Winter at Tantora Festival. The Festival also provides a wide range of diverse experiences that meet the needs of all visitors and entertain all tastes, for individuals, groups or families from all walks of life.

The Festival started on19th December 2019 and running until 7th March 2020. Guests of the second season of this year will be able to visit the astonishing historical and heritage sites exclusively and attend the international musical and artistic performances revived by ancient artists who left their marks in the art of the Arab and international music world.
