‘SKETCH AND GIVE’ BRINGS TOGETHER ART OF DESIGN AND GIVING

In a unique creative artistic benevolent initiative, the fashion community comes together to launch SKETCH & GIVE. The brainchild of renowned international fashion designer Honayda Serafi, the initiative invites all established designers, students in design, and artists to take their pads out, sketch a design, and post it on their Instagram accounts. For each sketch posted, a Eid outfit will be donated by participating retailers and initiative patrons, and distributed by the participating charity organizations, Al Nahda Philanthropic Society for Women in Riyadh and Al Oula Non-Profit Organization in Jeddah.

With the goal of inviting retailers to donate for the benefit of the less fortunate, the campaign takes on a creative flair that brings together designers, putting them on the helm of the message. SKETCH is an inspirational message to fashion designers and students of design who are invited to showcase their work inspired by the unprecedented times the world is witnessing due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and share it on their social media pages and on the SKETCH & GIVE Campaign accounts.

Commenting on the initiative, Honayda Serafi, Founder and Creative Director of Honayda, said: “SKETCH & GIVE is a partnership that brings together the designers, retailers, and philanthropic organizations. It is truly an honor for me to work with such dedicated entities. This is an invitation for everyone to join and showcase their designs and posting them online. Feel free to invite others to join, so that each sketch showcased inspires a design and delivers a gift.”

Launched during the second week of Ramadan, the initiative witnessed a number of key participants and partners that include leading Saudi designers, namely Samah Khashoggi, Wid & Shahad Rehaimi, and Razan Al Azzouni; and fashion influencers Nada Baeshen, Heba Mojaddidi, Yara Alnamlah, and Nojoud Alrumaihi; as well as image consultant Aram Kabbani. Partnering with the program is renowned Saudi fashion brand Femi9, in collaboration with a number of philanthropic organizations, educational institutions, and private companies including: Al Nahda Philanthropic Society for Women, Al Oula Non-Profit Organization, Raffles Design Institute, Dar Al Hikmah University, King Abdulaziz University, University of Jeddah, Taif University, Umm Al-Qura University, University of Tabuk, Riyadh College of Technology for Girls, and Fullstop Advertising Company.

Open for anyone interested in sharing their designs, special online sessions will be presented by the designers to help budding designers and artists share their sketches; special sessions will also be hosted for the children in the charity organizations that are interested in taking part with their designs.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped launch the SKETCH & GIVE initiative as we all come together and let the basis of giving and opening avenues for collaboration be our inspiration to draw smiles on the faces of others. This is our invitation, our learning, and our muse during the period of gift-giving Eid,” added Honayda.

Participation in the initiative involves simple steps as listed on the Instagram account @sketch_and_give. Interested participants may sketch a design, post it on their social media pages, and tag @sketch_and_give. Designs will be reposted on the SKETCH & GIVE official accounts, and for each design a new Eid outfit will be donated.
