Sixth Edition of Sharjah Women’s Sports Cup begins on October 30

Sharjah Women’s Sports (SWS) has announced that the sixth edition of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Cup (SWSC) will begin on October 30, 2019. The event will bring together female employees from Sharjah’s government and private sector entities to compete in three games – beach volleyball, 3x3 beach basketball and table tennis at the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) beach.

The event seeks to encourage healthy competition in working women and offer a platform on which they can put their athleticism to test in different sporting events. Most importantly, the tournament aims to drive these women to continue playing sports, develop their talents and have active and healthy lifestyles. The competitions have been designed to cater all levels of skill and capability of participants.

With the tournament’s announcement, HE Nada Askar Al Naqbi, Director General of SWS, has remarked that the sixth edition of the event translates SWS’s commitment to identify and nurture their talent, and create an ideal environment for Sharjah government and private sector women employees to compete, showcase their talents and develop their capabilities and expertise.

“Sportswomen and women employees in all sectors are major actors shaping the innovative landscape of Sharjah’s inclusive development process. Their contributions are key to enhancing the overall appeal and competitiveness of women’s sports in the emirate.” She added: “We are steadily working towards creating a vibrant sporting environment for women characterised by the active engagement of women employees from all sectors. They are role models for their peers, and boost SWS’s efforts to promote the importance of playing sports for success in both professional and personal endeavours. We want to popularise these messages further with this edition of the cup, and we are hoping to see the women to bring their best game to it.”
