His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), chaired a meeting of the AUS Board of Trustees held today December 11, at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 

 

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan expressed satisfaction at the university’s progress and approved a number of resolutions related to new and current initiatives. The Sharjah Ruler also thanked the members of the board for their continued efforts.

 

“On behalf of the university, I would like to express my gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan for his leadership. We draw immense strength from his guidance and wisdom. His support has been integral in helping the university achieve its goals,” said Dr. Björn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the AUS Board of Trustees for their efforts and support,” he added.

 

Chancellor Kjerfve said that the board discussed development of a research plan for AUS, and reviewed operational matters that would help enhance the functioning of the university.

 

During the meeting, the board discussed various issues and passed a number of resolutions, including approving the audited financial statements for the fiscal year ended 2015/2016. It also approved resolutions pertaining to the Emergency Evacuation Enhancement proposal, the Faculty Handbook, and structural changes of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.

 

The board thanked His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his leadership and generous support to the university.
