Riyadh governor launches SR730m education projects

Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar on Thursday launched a number of educational projects worth more than SR730 million ($194.7 million).

The launch coincided with the Riyadh General Administration of Education’s celebrations on Thursday of the Kingdom’s 87th National Day.

On arrival at the event, the governor was received by Minister of Education, Ahmed Al-Issa; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Naif Al-Jabri; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Curricula and Educational Programs Rashid Al-Ghayadh; Director General of Education in Riyadh, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mana; and a number of officials of the Ministry of Education.

Delivering the welcome, Abdullah Al-Mana, stressed that the Department of Education in Riyadh is pleased to celebrate the 87th National Day of the Kingdom in a country which enjoys safety and security.
Speaking after witnessing the cultural show held to mark the event, the Riyadh governor said these new educational projects would benefit 70 schools and more than 40,000 students in the Riyadh region.

He said that the people have to pay respect to the teachers who brought them up during their school careers. “We are really grateful to our teachers for bringing us to this position,” he added.
Turning to the female teachers and students, the governor said that they enjoy equal rights as men. “We respect womanhood,” he noted, pointing out that men and women travel in one ship for their journey in life.
