Refresh your skin overnight. A new sustainably sourced Quinoa Husk extract peel is here… Now, from Kiehl’s

Are you ready for a whole new approach to beautiful, healthy skin from Kiehl’s?
For the first time ever in a facial skincare product, Kiehl’s has used the goodness of Quinoa, one of the healthiest grains renowned for being high in protein, essential amino acids and vitamins.

By harnessing the power of the Quinoa husk, Kiehl’s has utilized the essential nature of this beneficial plant to its fullest. The husk (or the shell on the outside of the grain) takes on the role of a natural skin peeling ingredient in Kiehl’s all new Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate, offering anti-aging skincare benefits in an overnight treatment. Now that’s a true beauty industry breakthrough! Regular use of the concentrate leads to accelerated cell turnover, with skin that reveals improved tone, evenness and a more refined texture, showing a greater softness and radiance.  At the same time, Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate is safe to use every single night, even if your skin is sensitive!

Seeking to offer a gentle and affordable at-home alternative to chemical peels to beauty lovers as well as to medical patients who desire a more efficient outcome from dermatological procedures, Kiehl’s chemists have combined Quinoa Husk Extract with Fruit Acids, Cactus Extracts and Phytic Acid in the Nightly Refining Micro Peel Concentrate.  The effect is a multi-benefit innovation, which offers a highly effective overnight anti-aging treatment for use at home. It also leads to enhanced results, improved tolerance, greater safety and faster recovery when combined with in-office peels.

Clinically proven results from a scientific discovery

Clinical tests demonstrate proven results and efficacy, with skin showing improved smoothness, softness and radiance on the morning after the first use. After seven days of nightly use, the skin tone becomes more even, its quality appearing visibly improved. And after four weeks of nightly use, fine lines, wrinkles and discolorations are noticeably diminished.  Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skins. For best results, apply two to three drops to clean skin every night before following with the appropriate serum and moisturizer.

Sustainably sourced Quinoa Husk extract offers an alternative or complementary solution to dermatologist peels. Explains Roberta Weiss, Kiehl’s Since 1851 Head of Product Innovation: “As the Quinoa seeds were being rinsed, it was noticed that the plant’s discarded outer husks had begun to bubble. This activity led to the finding that Quinoa Husks have exemplary skin exfoliation benefits. What was once considered waste, was now a unique scientific discovery.”

Sustainably sourced

It doesn’t end there. Kiehl’s is promoting the responsible use of natural Bolivian resources by partnering with Bolivian suppliers as well as with a foundation that sustainably sources Quinoa Husk from local farmers.  By using this ingredient over a three-year period in the concentrate, Kiehl’s goal is to provide socio-economic development to 250 Bolivian farms and their families. By supporting this project, Kiehl’s will also play a role in protecting the environment through the planting of native legumes, bushes and herbaceous plants, all of which enrich the soil while preventing erosion.

Dr. Adam Geyer, Kiehl’s Consulting Dermatologist says: “Despite the popularity of chemical peels, they present a number of barriers. While effective, the treatment can cause skin sensitivity including redness, irritation, PIH or POH and scarring. The expense of such treatments also presents a challenge for many patients, as a single chemical peel treatment can cost between $600-$900. In addition, consumers must undergo preparation and precautions
