Ramadanna Kida 2 opens in Jeddah

Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, and Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed on Thursday evening opened a Ramadan festival in the historic district of Jeddah.

The festival, Ramadanna Kida 2 (Our Ramadan Was Like This), which features many traditional aspects, will continue throughout the holy month.
Prince Mishaal stressed the importance of presenting the image of the historic district and Ramadan’s beautiful atmosphere that prevailed in the region decades ago.
Prince Mishaal said the Jeddah historic district deserves all appreciation because of its deep historical legacy, and the Ramadan festival gives all the glimpse of the past into the cultures and heritage of the Kingdom.

The festival is open every day from 10 p.m. after Taraweeh prayers until 2 in the morning.
The festival has 50 cultural, heritage and entertainment activities held in various parts of the area, with the extension of 1,000 meters in the area of the festival that are decorated with more than 5,000 Ramadan lights. There are activities for all age groups and all segments of society which will connect the present to the past.

In addition, there are 26 activities that tell about Ramadan in Jeddah over the past 68 years, including a visit to the Jeddah library, Bashan Cultural House, Museum of Zia Aziz Zia, the historical exhibition of the elite of Makkah.
Organizers expect more than 1 million guests and visitors during the month of Ramadan. The glimpse of past Saudi culture, history and traditions will keep the local community and young generation relate to the past.

The festival includes commercial, social, cultural, religious, sport, environment and heritage activities of Hijazi heritage to promote the Kingdom as the house of culture, literature, Arabian and Islamic history, while preserving heritage and the cultural treasures.
