Power-Cleaning Washing Machines that Help You Save on Household Water Bills

With World Water Week taking place in Stockholm between 28 August and 2 September 2016, global influencers will gather to deliberate on how to mitigate a mounting water crisis. The theme this year is Water for Sustainable Growth. The previous edition brought together over 3,300 individuals and close to 300 convening organizations from 130 countries. As such a global debate on using water sustainably rages, closer home our lifestyles in the region have never for once made us feel like we are living in the desert, at least in terms of round-the-clock availability of water. This luxury is sometimes misused, with residents of the United Arab Emirates dubbed the highest per capita water users in the world, consuming an average of 550 litres[1] per day.

In order to save water, a study by a professor at the University of Sharjah[2] examined the issue and came up with a simple solution - using greywater, essentially recycled water, to flush lavatories in multi-storey residential buildings. Wastewater from showers, baths and also washing machines, which are originally supplied with fresh water, could be treated in a retrofitted system within the buildings, then used to flush lavatories or used in other aspects of building maintenance. A greywater recycling system could be placed on the roofs of buildings to reduce the need for indoor space or expensive odour-control systems.

Samsung’s patented ecobubble™ technology ensures that less detergent is used, meaning less residue, making it easier for water to be treated for such use. The machines pre-mix detergent with air and water, and then fills every inch of the drum with bubbles that penetrate the fabric 40 times faster than the normal mix of water and soap to deliver outstanding cleaning performance.  The ecobubble™ offers both gentler fabric care and outstanding wash results even in cold water, while delivering energy savings as well.

Samsung’s SuperSpeed cycle enabled by the SpeedSpray technology shoots out jet sprays of water, so detergent gets rinsed quickly and cleans clothes faster. Samsung’s SuperSpeed feature makes it possible to complete a normal wash in less than an hour without compromising washing performance.

Samsung’s AddWash also has the Digital Inverter Technology (DIT), which delivers superior energy efficiency, minimal noise, vibrations and longer-lasting performance.
