The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing (MOMAH) issued more than 34,000 building permits across Saudi Arabia’s various regions during the period from January through the end of June 2026, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Residential permits accounted for the largest share of the total permits issued during the period, with more than 28,000 permits, while the number of commercial permits exceeded 5,000, in addition to 1,000 permits for government buildings, the ministry said.
It noted that the development of the municipal licensing system and the expansion of digital solutions through the “Balady” platform have helped simplify permit issuance procedures, accelerating the processing of applications, improving the beneficiary journey, and enhancing the efficiency of coordination among the relevant entities.
According to Argaam’s data, the total number of building permits issued in the Kingdom during the first half of 2025 reached approximately 37,420 permits.
