National Water Company (NWC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tatweer Company for Educational services to address the issue of water scarcity in schools.

The MoU aims to carry out a community outreach program with the objective of educating students about the importance of water and tips on how to conserve it via its better utilization.

The aim of the Water Sector Program is to reduce the municipal water consumption over the next four years to reach the natural rates globally by 2020, which is one of the national transformation initiatives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

 

The MoU was signed between Eng. Mohammed Al Mowkly, deputy minister, water services and CEO of National Water Company and Dr. Mohammed Alzaghibi, CEO of Tatweer Company for Educational Services.

According to Al Mowkly the MoU coincided with the intention of the NWC to launch the national comprehensive program to rationalize water consumption in the Kingdom, within the initiatives of the National Transition Program 2020, indicating that the program aims to improve the behavior of water consumption over the next four years to reach the normal rates globally.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Alzaghibi said that the MoU between the two parties aims to design an awareness and educational program in order to provide the best ways to instill a culture of water conservation in the personalities of the future generation.

He said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the National Water Company to educate students about water conservation and encourage them to take small everyday actions that can add up to make a big difference to the issue of water scarcity.”
