NWC and KAUST Sign Research Cooperation Agreement on Water, its Distribution, and Environmental Treatment

The National Water Company (NWC) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) signed a research cooperation and knowledge transfer agreement on October 22, 2023, in research programs covering the water, its distribution and environmental treatment fields. 

 

The agreement was signed by Eng. Nemer bin Mohammed Al-Shebl, CEO of the National Water Company, and Professor Pierre Magistretti, Vice President for Research at KAUST, in the presence of Doctor Ian Campbell, Interim Vice President for Innovation and Executive Director of Special Projects, and senior staff from both sides. 

 

The National Water Company elaborated that the agreement comes within the framework of its efforts to reach innovative solutions, in addition to transferring knowledge, keeping pace with modern technologies and localizing them, opening research horizons in the field of water distribution techniques, developing wastewater treatment systems, reducing losses, and generating energy.

 

The company said: "The agreement indicates that the Kingdom has distinguished national institutions that can be used to develop the service sectors, in addition to opening wide research horizons, especially in the water and environmental services sectors, to raise the level of efficiency of services, and improve and develop technical systems."   

 

On its part, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) said the agreement with the National Water Company would ensure the implementation of research work, the use of modern technologies to improve the efficiency of operations, the development of technologies in the water and environmental services sectors, and the exchange of experiences between the two sides. 

The university indicated that it is proud to continue the strategic partnership with the National Water Company, to complete a set of research projects of importance and effectiveness at the national level, and in line with the Kingdom's Vision. KAUST praised the partnership approach between the two sides to face national and global challenges, and to make a tangible societal impact in the water and environmental treatment sectors.
