New regulations set for teachers’ early retirement

The Ministry of Education said teachers can apply for early retirement through calculating the years of service in the education sector. All education departments have been directed to consider the requests of teachers with over 25 years of service, while the Bureau of School Affairs at the ministry will consider the requests of teachers who have less than 25 years of service.

The circular issued by Minister of Education Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil which addressed all educational departments, said requests of teachers for early retirement should be done through education departments, not the ministry.

According to the circular, the request of any male or female teacher who served less than 25 years in the educational field must be raised with the Bureau of School Affairs at the ministry within a maximum of five days from the date of the teacher’s request.
Teachers with more than 25 years in the education field must apply to education departments to complete the retirement procedures within 15 days.
On the other hand, the General Directorate of Education in Riyadh announced that 300 new teachers in all educational disciplines were allocated to their schools for the next school year. According to acting Director General for Education in Riyadh Hamad Alshneber these teachers have passed their interviews and completed the medical examination procedures.

All teachers were selected according to professional standards by committees, educators and specialists in the field of education.
“There are extensive field tours to all of schools in the region to monitor their preparedness for the next school year,” he said.
He said the aim of the support provided to the schools is also to encourage these schools to implement the plans and educational programs.
