“Nahdi” receives applauds on its vaccination model

Sanofi Retail Conference event is another major step forward in Sanofi’s ambition to develop and drive patients and shoppers’ centric trade customer strategies eventually Empowering Lives to many. Hosted in Boston, the number one biotech hub in the world, the Conference is built around the innovations and solutions dedicated to better serve existing patients, while creating a sustainable plan for future growth, taking learnings and inspirations from the US environment.

In Boston, USA and among other global leaders, Nahdi Medical Company received applauds on demonstrating its vaccination model that started back in 2016 with approval from the MOH to reach more than 16,000 patients to get their vaccine during the flu season. Nahdi’s step to plan, prepare and execute such model and program is due to its strategy to be the part of the integrated health care system and the 2030 Vision of Saudi Arabia that was led by His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz who want to improve the wellness and focus on prevention, instead of treatment.

Accordingly, the MOH decided to increase flu vaccination level from 14 to 50 % by 2030 and Nahdi contributed to this act since 2015 when it launched the free diabetes educational clinic to pave the way to the concept of the one-minute clinic, with Joslin Diabetes Center as diabetes is a serious issue in Saudi Arabia. So, as primary health care, Nahdi started with diabetes with a clear end of mind to have diabetes and hopefully 1 min clinic inside the store. Then by 2016 and 2017 the company started to look and search about vaccinations.

“With tough economy scenarios we had to be creative in allocating a budget for the vaccination project. So we brought forward one of our interns who graduated as a pharm.d from Boston work on the policies, guidelines and procedures of the vaccination project. And along with an MD who graduate from France, we got the approval from MOH to start vaccination in the 50 educational clinics we had in our stores. Later on, we trained more than 50 Pharmacists who were actually dedicated for diabetes to be HCP’s.” Said Dr. Sarah Turkistani, Head of Health and Community Service at Nahdi Medical Company.

Across her speech at the Sanofi Retail conference 2019, Dr. Sarah stressed that she wants to see more numbers of participants in order to give Nahdi the opportunity to widely serve the Saudi community.

“Our target audience are families who seek confidence and our plan is to look at the patient behavior during the flu season and heavily target those who really get sick during the season. Nahdi will make sure to monitor those who got the vaccine and if they are coming again for the vaccination. On the other hand, the company has been working hand and hand with Sanofi team and with the MOH to reach higher levels. In the hope in the future both can really make a bigger impact and reach bigger numbers in all our stores.” Dr. Turkistani concluded.
