Mauritius Receives Higher Footfalls From Saudi Arabia as Compared to Other Gcc Countries

Mauritius is witnessing a higher growth of tourist arrivals from Saudi Arabia and it has touched close to 15000 travellers in the first 10 months of 2018.  There has been a surge in newly married couples preferring Mauritius due to its pristine beaches and eco-tourism destinations. Since September 2017, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has started their scheduled flights between Riyadh and Jeddah to Mauritius. The two nations now have regular scheduled flights, proving a seamless link for passengers from the Kingdom to visit Mauritius and vice versa.

Bruno Bosquet from Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels in Mauritius stated that,” We have seen a surge in young adults and newly married couples visiting our properties during the last year. Most of the Beachcomber resorts, are located on the tropical island’s seafront and many Saudi Arabian nationals prefer these properties. As a group we have invested several million Euros to refurbish our properties in order to cater to the discerning Saudi travellers.”

Since the creation of Park Hotel in 1952, a collection of 9 resorts have emerged over the years, including the mythical Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury Mauritius in 1985, considered by everyone as the reference in hospitality for luxury holidays in Mauritius. The Group recently expanded its collection, with the integration of the Beachcomber French Riviera, situated on the Côte d’Azur, in France.

“We have created special, creative and memorable set of activities for tourists from Saudi Arabia, especially for the new couples wherein they can engage in a nine-hour discovery drive around Mauritius at their own pace and liking. In addition they can explore scuba diving with a qualified instructor, have a parasailing tour, mountain biking, horseback rides tour around Mahebourg, speedboat outing in the Eastern lagoon, sunset tours, photoshoots, boat trips and also yoga sessions with a Master Yogi,” added Bruno.

This hospitality group manages close to 15% of the country’s total capacity with 2,100 rooms, and has the distinction of booking 500,000 overnight stays in 2017.
