Madinah governor launches SR400m educational projects

Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman launched Wednesday 41 education projects worth SR400 million.
Minister of Education Ahmed Al-Issa and Minister of Commerce Tawfiq Al-Rabiah were among the attendees at the launch ceremony. The projects include school buildings and administrative facilities for more than 26,000 male and female students in primary, intermediate and secondary schools, and two supervisory centers in the cities of Jamawat and Hanakiyyah.
Meanwhile, there would be a revamp of 49 education buildings, including the provision of safety and security measures at a cost of SR87.79 million. Director General of Madinah Education Nasir Al-Abdulkarim said the projects would substantially improve education outcomes.
He said the projects were a result of the commitment of the government led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to both general and higher education across the country, according to a report in a local publication.
In another development, Prince Faisal also attended Wednesday the closing session of the 5th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Mathematics Olympiads, which was hosted by the General Administration of Education in Madinah. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.
The event was also attended by Al-Eissa and Al-Rabiah. The education minister said his ministry and other GCC countries expect the program to enable male and female students to compete at the international forum. He thanked Prince Faisal for his support and helping to make the event a success.
Director of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States Ali bin Abdulkahliq said he was pleased at the success of the Olympiads, which he said would encourage students to become more proficient at mathematics.
The event included a theatrical performance by Madinah students entitled “Restoration of Glory” depicting hope for the new generation. At the close of the ceremony, Prince Faisal honored the winners of the contest.
