The management of the King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) has announced plans to build the region’s first aeronautics college.

A building for private aviation, a long-term parking area and a five-star hotel are also part of the plans. The construction is expected to be in progress until the end of 2016 with the hotel’s having been started in June.

The airport’s management will also offer many investment opportunities to serve the Eastern Province and bring greater investments to the region.
KFIA will sign in the coming weeks a new contract with one of the largest shipping companies to work with the six major express shipping companies operating at the airport.

As part of its commitment to meet requirements for all travelers, KFIA’s shops provide international brands and high-quality goods imported from the country of origin at reasonable prices. There are also a number of items from the Kingdom on sale in the shops.

The management has recently distributed various gifts to clients, including a Mini Cooper and a Bentley, and there are plans to have a drawing soon for a Lexus. This comes within KFIA’s marketing plan to increase commercial development.

KFIA was opened on Nov. 28, 1999, to commercial traffic, and all airlines transferred their operations from Dhahran International Airport. The airport serves the province and is a major hub for Saudia.

The six-story airport terminal has been organized so that three of its terminals are allocated for processing passengers with the third level for arrivals. The fourth level is for boarding with another level for departures.
