The awards were launched in 2009 with the aim of raising public awareness of the significant achievements by Arab women and to provide young women with inspirational role models.  The events now run across the GCC with ceremonies in the UAE, Kuwait, KSA and Qatar with Bahrain and Oman launching in 2017.  Twenty awards will be presented in areas including business, fashion, entrepreneurship, charity, media and literature.  Previous winners include HH Sheikha Fatima bin Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan, Yusra AlHashimi, Dr. Iman Al Jaberi, Moza Sultan Al Kaabi, Sheikha Alyaziah bint Nahayan,  HE Moodhi Al Shamsi and Professor Rafia Ghubash.

Awards Founder and Executive Director of ITP Publishing Group and APP Media Group, Sue Holt said, “We have selected this year’s board of judges due to them all being inspiring women who are experts in their own fields.  Being the UAE awards we also try to have all of the Emirates represented.  Many of the board members have themselves been previous winners and said what a positive experience it was for them.  This year we have had over 300 nominations so they now have the very difficult task of selecting the most deserving. I wish them luck and look forward to seeing their final choices.”
