Jordan's visitors increase during the first half 5.6%

 

The number of visitors to the Kingdom during the first half of this year by 5.6% compared to the same period last year, according to Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Majid Shweikeh. Sheikha said that the number of visitors to the Kingdom reached 2.438 million visitors in the first half of this year. The number of visitors reached 2.031 million during the first half of this year, a rise of 5.2%. The statistical indicators of the tourism sector achieved growth rates in the total number of tourists during the period from January to June of this year.

 

Sheikha pointed out that these indicators were reflected by the progress in the performance of the sector, driven by the promotion of marketing procedures in traditional and promising markets, and in attracting low cost flights from many countries. The number of visitors rose to 455.3 thousand tourists by 26.5%, while the number of overnight tourists to 393.7 thousand, an increase of 26.4% over the same period last year. The European countries represented 36.8%, followed by the Group of American States (19.1%), the Asia Pacific (8.2%) and the African countries (2.9%).

The total number of tourists during the last year was 4.9 million, an increase of 7.8% compared to 2017. The number of tourists reached 4.15 million tourists, an increase of 8% compared to 2017,

While tourism income amounted to about 3.727 billion dinars, according to statistics issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The Central Bank of Jordan data showed that the kingdom's income from tourism income rose by 1.6% in the first half of this year to reach 1.236.
