Introducing the World’s 1st Garfield Quick Mobile App Restaurant

Love me, feed me…at GarfieldEATS

(Dubai, UAE) — If you’ve ever read the GARFIELD comic strip — and who hasn’t? GARFIELD is the most read strip in the world—you know that Garfield eats. A lot.  The fabulous funny that inspired books, movies, and TV shows, is about to mark its 40th year on the comics pages.  On June 19, 2018, 14,600 comic strips will be under the fat cat’s belt, so it’s apropos that also in 2018, Garfield EATS, a new innovative mobile app for entertainment AND ordering food, will make its debut in the world.

 

GarfieldEATS is a new food experience brought to you by the world’s first “entergaging” app – an entertaining and engaging app created by the co-founder, Nathen Mazri, that replaces the Quick Service Restaurant with the Quick Mobile Restaurant. The app immerses the user in a complete Garfield experience offering cartoons and augmented reality gaming while waiting for your delivery and—food!  On the menu – delicious healthy Farm2Plate (F2P) lasagna of course, and guess what? World’s first pizza, shaped like Garfield and baked in a wood fire oven – ordered through the app and delivered quickly to anyone in Dubai. Also, because Garfield loves his coffee, enter the Garficcino, made with 100% Arabica coffee from Italy blended with flavorful and natural spices, dark chocolate, or fruits

 

GarfieldEATS co-founders, Nathen Mazri and Pascal Haider, were born well after Garfield’s rise to fame but both were fans of the cartoon growing up. Knowing Garfield’s penchant for Italian food and today’s shifting app-economy, they thought Garfield would be the perfect pitchman for their brand and entergaging vision. Their vision is to make the ordering of food fun and easy utilizing modern technology — you can use voice recognition to order—and taking into account environmental and healthy living concerns. GarfieldEATS will adhere to strict F2P guidelines on supply sourcing guaranteeing no GMOs, no preservatives, no artificial colors, and no fertilizers. They’ll also use rechargeable electric scooters to deliver the food in Re-box packaging that can be repurposed.

 

Nearly forty years ago, on June 19, 1978, GARFIELD was born on the comics pages. The mastermind of cartoonist Jim Davis, GARFIELD is a humorous strip centered on the lives of a lazy, cynical orange cat who loves lasagna, pizza, coffee, and his remote control; his owner, the long-suffering Jon Arbuckle; and Odie, a sweet but dumb dog. GARFIELD was introduced to the world in just 41 newspapers but quickly became the fastest growing and most widely syndicated comic strip ever. Today, the strip appears in over 2100 newspapers and is read daily by over 200 million people in 42 languages.  

 

The success of the comic strip spawned a cottage industry of Garfield consumer products and spinoffs, including a hit TV show, “Garfield and Friends,” that reigned the Saturday morning TV lineup for 7 years from 1988-1995 and is currently in worldwide syndication, “The Garfield Show,” a CGI animated cartoon airing in 131 countries and viewd by 25 million people each week, two feature films which netted over $340 million at the box office, books, with over 135 million sold, and a product licensing program whereby nearly 400 manufacturers crank out thousands of products depicting Garfield and the rest of the gang. Garfield’s vast licensing empire stretches into 111 countries, including U.A.E. where GarfieldEATS will make its debut. 

 

Garfield’s creator, Jim Davis said he was delighted with the concept.  “In 40 years, no one has ever come to me with a better thought-out plan to deliver great food in a fun and engaging way. I also admire their insistence on keeping the menu healthy and the environment safe.”
