Huawei to establish first ICT Academy in Jordan

Al-Balqa Applied University and Huawei Jordan signed an agreement to establish the first Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Academy in the Kingdom's official universities to train students and undergraduates in the field of these disciplines on the latest technology applied by Huawei around the world.  The agreement, which was signed at Huawei's headquarter in Chines Shenzhen City, (china's silicone valley), follows a memorandum of understanding signed by Huawei during the World Economic Forum for the Middle East and North Africa last April in the Dead Sea, in order to train 3,000 engineers and engineering students over the next three years. The agreement is the first of its kind to be signed by a Jordanian public university, with the aim of establishing a fourth faculty to teach disciplines related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) by providing high-level training that enables graduates to find a job in the local and regional market. The agreement was signed by President of Al Balqa Applied University, Abdallah Al-Zoubi, and Huawei’s Jordan Director General, Tawfiq Zang Yang, Al-Zoubi said that signing the agreement, which coincides with the Kingdom's 20th Accession to the Throne Day celebrations, comes in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision of making Jordan a regional hub in the ICT industry, adding that the university is very interested in implementing the Royal Vision, where it has taught a range of specializations in the field of ICT, and is currently preparing to launch a new college in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
