GACA likely to hire sacked Saudis

After the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) canceled its contract with the Miza company, which had been running executive offices throughout the Kingdom’s airports, an informed source revealed to local media that the authority is likely to call back 150 employees who were laid off.

In light of the authority’s shortage of staff to run the executive offices and VIP lounges, these employees are being considered as a suitable solution to this staffing problem.
More than 150 employees of Miza at VIP lounges in international and domestic airports faced an uncertain fate, after they lost their jobs when the company’s contract was canceled due to its failure to uphold its contractual duties and roles.

According to a former company official, who refused to disclose his identity, his former company failed to adequately cater to guests due to lack of sufficient experience in dealing with VIPs. However, it was able to efficiently operate management offices due to more than 60 years’ experience in this field. Its current problem, however, is the lack of sufficient staff to run these executive offices and lounges well, he explained.

A number of laid-off staff drew the attention of the authority and urged it take advantage of their skills and experience, as possible employees. Many have turned to applying for social security benefits through Sanad since being laid off in order to provide for their families, but the allowances have not been paid due to having surpassed the statutory period as required.
