King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) joined hands with the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (12EN) to train Saudi engineering graduates in nuclear energy programs to achieve its vision 2032, which aims to replace 50 percent of the dependence on traditional fossil fuels with eco-friendly atomic and renewed energy.

“K.A.CARE organized a training program of skill development in the field of nuclear energy for 26 trainees from the engineering faculty of King Abdulaziz University (KAU),” a K.A.CARE spokesman said on Thursday.
The program was organized in collaboration with the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (12EN), AREVA and EDF Center, he added. 
Notably, the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN) is a French government initiative to bring together the leading universities and engineering schools to contribute in helping country partners of France in the responsible development of nuclear energy.

The prestigious institute’s worldwide dimension makes I2EN a source of solutions in educating and training for development of human resources in nuclear energy. The core purpose behind it is to establish a responsible approach to the management and safety of a sustainable nuclear industry.
The K.A.CARE official further revealed that the nuclear program for Saudi graduates targets building nuclear know-how and applications in nuclear projects in the Kingdom.

The program lasted for seven weeks in the French capital, Paris, during which the trainees visited a number of relevant sites in other French cities to become familiar with the technicalities and acquire expertise for helping the country in its vision for an eco-friendly energy program.
The training program was primarily based on simulation exercises involving nuclear reactor operations. 
Trainees have also visited a number of nuclear reactors where they familiarized themselves with applied training at radiation laboratories.
To felicitate these engineer graduates, K.A.CARE will also host a recognition ceremony in honor of the trainees on Sept. 1 at K.A.CARE’s headquarters in Riyadh.
