For the third time, the UAE has won the membership of the Human Rights Council

The UAE won the membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period 2022/2024 after obtaining 180 votes from member states during the elections that were held by secret ballot.

The UAE expressed its appreciation for being elected to this seat, as the state continues its efforts to promote and protect human rights at the national, regional and international levels. In submitting its candidacy for the seat, the UAE had the opportunity to highlight the great progress it has made in recent years to advance human rights, especially for the most vulnerable members of society.

As home to more than 200 nationalities from diverse groups of ethnic and religious backgrounds, the UAE is keen to be firmly committed to respecting human rights and to build on its steady progress in this field.

Over the years, it has enacted and enacted a series of laws and regulations that enshrine basic rights and provide fair treatment to all its citizens and residents, especially women, children, workers and people of determination, as stipulated in the UAE Constitution.
