Following its successful Van Gogh themed Afternoon Tea in 2015, Fairmont The Palm will be unveiling a new haute Afternoon Tea and art exhibition concept honouring the Italian Contemporary artist Daniele Dondè and his luxury art collection “Mythos”. Paying homage to Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Leonardo Da Vinci, Dondè creates glamorous works of art, characterised by the use of gold, silver, Swarovski-Strass and glitter in his latest collection, “Mythos” that will be unveiled at its maiden exhibition in Dubai. 30 of the most famous Daniele Dondè art pieces, including the portraits of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Dondè’s signature masterpiece Stradivari Rock Violin collection will be on display at the Mashrabiya Lounge at Fairmont The Palm throughout the month of February in collaboration with ‘La Villa’.

About Daniele Dondè – A Pioneer in contemporary art

Daniele Dondè was born in Cremona, the birth place of many famous artists, to renowned art collectors in 1950. This instilled a great love of art from a very early age, especially the contemporary art in his family’s collection. In 1984 Dondè held his first exhibition of “no-art” contemporary art, the first exhibition of “legal fakes”. These “legal fakes” were copies of the most renowned and famous paintings in the world including works from Van Gogh and Monet. Daniele Dondè’s work has come a long way since the 1980s and it has been exhibited throughout the world, most notably in the Pelopidas Museum of Contemporary Art in Cancun, Mexico. At Dondè’s exhibition in New York in 1990, he was given the honorary title of Professor and Doctor of modern and contemporary art from the prestigious American Pro Deo Luis University. In 1999, Dondè received the “Crystal Globe”, an award only given to highly recognized and famous Italian artists. Dondè has been appreciated by the rich and the famous since then including Frank Sinatra, Roger Moore, Sophia Loren, the Sultan of Brunei, Prince Albert of Monaco, Mohammed Al Fayed and Arnold Schwarzenegger among many others. Dondè has been credited for starting one of the art movements in the world.
