EP reserves 100-meter area at each beach for public

A 100-meter area will be reserved for members of the public at each beach in the Eastern Province and will be developed into attractive getaways.
The new contracts, to be signed with investors, will take into account the directives issued in this regard recently by the Council of Ministers and won’t allow commercial facilities in the specified areas, said EP Mayor Fahad Al-Jubeir.
Al-Jubeir said that the investors who have already signed contracts with the mayoralty will be required to leave 100-meter area for the public.
A 20-kilometer area on beaches is equipped with all services in Dammam, Alkhobar, Qatif and Ras Tanura, he said, adding that the procedures adopted by the Council of Ministers aim to prevent compromising on these areas and provide an attractive outlet to visitors.
The mayoralty will work on developing all the beaches with green spaces and services in line with the Cabinet decision, he said.
Al-Jubeir said the Eastern Province is one of the distinctive attractions for visitors from all regions of the Kingdom and the other Gulf states.
The Cabinet, headed by Deputy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Mohammed bin Naif, recently approved a number of measures to adjust land beach leasing.
The decision stated six exceptions, including the private equity, security necessities, public services and commercial activity sites, along with tourist accommodation and fish investment projects.
