Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, is the platinum sponsor of The Dubai Kids Marathon, which will be held at Mamzar Park in Dubai on International Children's Day (18 November 2016) and expected to attract over  5,000 children. Organized by UAE Athletics Federation under the theme “Resolute and vigorous ... away from obesity", the Marathon will coincide with the National Day celebrations.

“As part of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's initiative, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, we are participating and sponsoring this marathon in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility to improve the physical and psychological well-being of kids and their innovation, and to encourage families to support their children to engage in adventure sports. The participation of parents will go a long way in taking the message home,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower.

 

“Sport is and will remain a bridge for human communication and is one of the most important tools of peace and love. In addition, the Kids Marathon reinforces the crucial role of sport in supporting humanitarian issues and encourage fitness activities, since it has a positive impact on the character-building, health and self-reliance, as well as to raise healthy and happier children,” added Bin Shafar.

 

The participants will arrive at 2pm on the day  to be directed to the assembly point for some collective exercise, followed by tips and instructions, before the race begins under the supervision of coaches from UAE Athletics Federation. The Marathon will be divided into three categories: 1 kilometer is for 5 to 7 years; 2.5 km second stage for 8 to 10 years, and 2.5 km for 11 to 13 years.

12 winners from all age categories of boys and girls will be awarded prizes. There will be recreational activities and workshops throughout the day, children and parents.
