Emirates District Cooling LLC [Emicool] – a leading district cooling service provider in the region and a joint venture of Dubai Investments PJSC and Union Properties, has won two leading industry awards in a week in recognition of its achievements in promoting environmental sustainability in the UAE and region.

 

The company won the Carbon Champion Award at 7th International District Energy Association [IDEA] District Cooling Conference in Dubai recently, which recognized its contribution to reduction of CO2 emissions through deployment of highly efficient district cooling services in Gulf. Sanela Habbab, COO of Emicool, received the award.

 

Emicool was also adjudged the ‘Best District Cooling Utility Provider’ at the 6th Climate Control Awards 2016 conferred by CPI Industry. The award was in recognition of its excellence in providing innovative, reliable and energy efficient district cooling solutions.

 

Speaking at the opening plenary discussion of the IDEA District Cooling Conference held at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Adib Moubadder, CEO of Emicool, said: “The District Cooling concept in the UAE is on a consistent growth phase, with healthy competition among the key players. The Regulatory Supervisory Bureau [RSB] has a strategic role to play in creating a sustainable growth for the district cooling sector.”

 

He added: “To be honoured as the Carbon Champion at IDEA Conference and the Best District Cooling Utility Provider at Climate Control Awards are prestigious recognitions for Emicool. The awards motivate us to retain the highest levels of utility services in the future. Through its energy-efficient operations, Emicool helped reduce over 89,464 metric tonnes of CO₂ in 2015.”

 

Emicool currently provides district cooling services to over 17,000 customers in the UAE, with the most efficient and highest quality infrastructure. The Company is planning to increase its plant capacity to 500,000 Tonnes of Refrigeration [TR] by 2020 as rampant construction is leading to pent-up demand for district cooling services in UAE and region.

 

In the UAE, cooling systems account for 60 to 70 per cent of energy consumption in buildings as it saves energy, water and ultimately reduces carbon emissions. Emicool has put forward strategic plans to transform many buildings in Dubai from conventional air-conditioning to district cooling.

 

Headquartered in Dubai Investments Park [DIP], Emicool provides district cooling services to Green Community with DIP, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Sports City, Uptown Mirdif, and Palazzo Versace in Dubai. The company will start its district cooling services to the AKOYA by DAMAC soon.
