Education Ministry cancels night classes

The Ministry of Education has directed all educational departments throughout the Kingdom to apply the semester system for the secondary education level at the night schools for adults (males), and discontinue the open nightly education system.

In a circular issued by Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil on Saturday, the ministry instructed all educational departments in the regions and provinces to open specialized tracks, as well as open literary and administrative tracks in line with the availability of a suitable number of interested students.
No less than 20 students should be enrolled in one semester, and in the case of lack of enough students, the education track should be closed and students directed to the nearest school.

The General Directorate of Adult Education and Departments of Adult Education (for males) must follow-up on the application of these regulations in all the schools and provide the necessary support to ensure efficient and top quality services, as well as provide feedback reports at the end of the academic year.
Mansour Hussein, supervisor of educational media at the Riyadh Department of Education, said the department has opened 65 seasonal clubs this year, in addition to 24 neighborhood clubs for boys and girls to be used for social events and cultural activities. These clubs are supervised and carried out by educators specializing in the cultural and sports fields.

“The administration is keen on establishing clubs in schools that contain various sports facilities. Also, it seeks to cover all neighborhoods in Riyadh and affiliated provinces,” he said, confirming that registration in these clubs is free of charge.
More than 26,000 students are enrolled in seasonal and neighborhood clubs affiliated with the Riyadh Education Department.
Summer club programs for students in the Riyadh region will end Thursday, as the Department of Education given a weeklong vacation to participants as a reward for their hard work.
