Dubai Ladies Club partners with Lorna Jane to host Active Nation Day Dubai

Yesterday, Dubai Ladies Club hosted an enriching morning to mark Active Nation Day Dubai. Organised in partnership with Lorna Jane Middle East, this international event, was created in 2012 by Lorna Jane in Australia to inspire women, their families, communities, cities and the world to live a more active life. The morning’s activities included a wide variety of exhilarating workouts by Olga Guillamon, the remarkable Emirati ladies behind Ana Gow Running Club, and also Nadine du Toit and Derryn Brown, who are two of Dubai's most sought after training and life style coaches for women, as well as Middle East Brand Ambassadors for Lorna Jane. The day also included inspirational talks by Derryn Brown and the Ana Gow team.

Commenting on the occasion, Maitha Shuaib, Marketing and Events Manager of Dubai Ladies Club, reiterated the Club’s ongoing commitment to cater to physical and mental wellbeing of all women. She said, “We are delighted to partner with Lorna Jane to host Active Nation Day. This event will serve as yet another opportunity to remind women about taking charge of their health and wellbeing, which can in turn impact the wellbeing of her entire family. As women, we play an irreplaceable role within our families to influence each family member to adopt a more active lifestyle through physical fitness and healthy diet. Our program during Active Nation Day Dubai was designed to propel our members and guests towards a more fit and fulfilling path. When people feel good about themselves, they feel good about others as well, and in turn drive positive change.”

First launched in Australia, to address the dramatic rise of worldwide obesity, Active Nation Day is now a series of events across the world to encourage women to mark their commitment to Active Living by getting out and moving their bodies. It is a day where people are asked to consider putting their health and fitness first and resetting their commitment and inspiring others to do the same. Today Active Nation Day is celebrated in over 11 countries, with over 300 registered events worldwide.

Lorna Jane Clarkson first started her brand in 1990, and has since seen it as her personal lifetime mission to inspire and empower women to live active through her Move, Nourish, Believe philosophy.  Local brand representative and entrepreneur, Kerrie Alder, launched the brand in the Middle East as she believe its authenticity and message would resonate strongly with Middle Eastern women and inspire them to live active.  Commenting on the day Kerrie shared that “through our outlets and participation in local sports, fitness and wellness events, we see that many women are leading their active crusade alone, whilst also seeking their way against culture norms.  Lorna Jane is such an inspiring brand that it helps these ladies feel like they are being supported in their crusade to live active, and in turn can then inspire others.  We see it happening every day, and it is our mission to nurture it via women uplifting women and creating platforms upon which they can thrive.  Our collaboration with Dubai Ladies Club, its members, and our passion for living active, resulted in Ana Gow Running being born and created by just such women finding their way via living active”.  “From just a handful of women on day 1, and mainly expatriates, Ana Gow was born and now attracts more than 40 women at its weekly events, mainly Emirati, and is also Emirati led.  This is what we love about inspiring a nation, and we sincerely hope that Active Nation Day will inspire more women to do the same and also to join the Ana Gow Team and to live active”.

Since its inception in 2003, Dubai Ladies Club has consistently worked towards improving the quality of life of Emirati and expatriate women living in the UAE through in-house events, facilities and pilot projects. The events span the fields of wellbeing, art & culture, fitness and educational seminars. The primary objective of these initiatives is to provide all women in Dubai with the opportunity to try new concepts that inspire social participation and healthy living on a long term basis.
