Dubai Culture reviews its strategic plan in support of the national action strategy to prepare for the next 50 years

As part of its endeavour to realise the new cultural vision launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in establishing the Emirate’s position as a global centre for art and culture, an incubator of creativity, and a thriving hub for talent,  Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) held an interactive workshop with senior leaders from the Authority’s management along with stakeholders and strategic partners from governmental entities and the private sector, to review its strategy map and lay the foundations for its development in line with the theme of the year ‘2020: Towards the Next 50,’ with the aim to establish a starting point to stimulate and consolidate the growth of the Emirate and underpin its global cultural status.

The second stage of reviewing and developing Dubai Culture’s strategy follows an initial stakeholder engagement with its strategic partners from government entities and the private sector during which opportunities and gaps in the culture sector were identified and recorded, with the aim to establish the pathway for Authority to play an active role in driving the sector and enable its full potential. Strategic performance indicators and targets were also discussed during the workshop, including the list of programmes and initiatives that would be required to fulfil Dubai Culture’s goals in preparing for the future and enacting changes that will lead to qualitative shifts in the path of the cultural sector as well as the strategic role that the Authority will play in empowering the sector.

In this context, Hala Badri, director general of Dubai Culture, said: “Change is the only constant. To keep pace with the rapid global changes that we are witnessing on social, technical, and economic levels, and be able to prepare for the next 50 years, in line with the year of preparation, we must ensure a solid base from which to launch our future goals. Therefore, we are constantly seeking to develop and modernise the Authority’s strategic plan to fulfil qualitative development achievements in its various sectors, serve future generations, contribute to supporting talents, and enhance creative capabilities in the comprehensive development of the UAE.”

Badri added: “The human factor is the main driver for success; and, as such, it is necessary for us to constantly review our people’s guiding principles, which will help us in reaching our strategic goals in an agile and efficient way. This will contribute to attaining our strategic goals and upgrading the quality of our services in an agile and seamless manner to achieve the highest levels of customer happiness as well as a service leadership position that will help us cast our eyes upon the future and promote cultural excellence in the UAE. We are also keen to coordinate with our strategic partners from government and private entities in addition to involving them in developing the Authority’s goals and plans to enhance the Emirate’s position as a global centre for arts and culture, an incubator of creativity, and a hub for talent. The updated development plan will include a set of ambitious strategic axes, emanating from creative ideas and based on innovation and the anticipation of the future.”

This all comes within the framework of Dubai Culture’s unremitting efforts to drive the robust growth of the culture sector by setting long-term plans that strengthen Dubai in the global cultural scene, while also helping realise the wise leadership’s vision and supporting its march of excellence.
