DJI’s library supports distance learning system

Within the framework of proactive steps taken by the UAE government to overcome the consequences of the global spread of COVID - 19, and in line with the efforts made to manage the crisis in order to provide the highest standards of public safety, including educational cadres, school students, and higher education institutions, the UAE government launched the distance learning system. Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) provides researchers with an important tool to continue their educational achievement through its library, which is one of the most important specialised legal libraries in the country.

HE Justice Dr Jamal Al Sumaiti, Director General of DJI, commented: “We made sure to record a rapid response to the consequences that resulted from the global viral outbreak, in line with the directives of our wise leadership and in support of the preventive measures and health guidelines issued by the concerned authorities. We made many changes to our operations and performance, including the library. In this regard, we have activated the system of electronic notifications for the convenience of customers without the need to leave their homes. Moreover, we renewed the borrowing system in line with emergency conditions and to continue to provide and feed the system with new informative data via books and legal periodicals, making it accessible to interested parties and researchers. We will continue to communicate with our stakeholders to provide them with various sources of knowledge and ensure their needs for the required references are met.”

DJI’s library abounds with all the principles and judicial rulings issued by the country’s supreme courts, jurisprudence and principles issued by the courts of cassation in the Arab countries, and the latest specialised books and legal periodicals. Students, researchers, and academics can join the library’s growing membership base to obtain diverse and comprehensive informational resources in various origins, branches, and knowledge of legal and judicial sciences.

This knowledge entity, which provides more than 10,000 books, helps researchers and those working in legal jobs during these critical circumstances to enhance their knowledge and complete their research and courses comfortably from their homes. This helps achieve some of the library’s most prominent objectives, including spreading legal and judicial knowledge, supporting scientific research, and reinforcing DJI’s strategic goals in preparing and qualifying citizens and specialists. It also helps provide the Emirate’s judicial institutions with competencies out of our firm belief in the importance of books in preparing members of the judiciary, researchers, and those practising law in general.
