Deputy Governor Al-Ahsa Inaugurates New Mobily Data Center

Deputy Governor Al-Ahsa province Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Barrak inaugurated the state of the art Mobily technical center in Al-Ahsa region in the Eastern Province; the inauguration session was also attended by Engineer Essam bin Othman al-Jubair, Senior  Executive Officer, Facilities and Administration, Mohammed Al-Belwe Executive General Manager of Corporate Communications & Public Relations and other Mobily officials.

The inauguration of the latest center is in-line with the Mobily’s vision of consolidating its leadership position in information and communication technology in the region. The center offers 560 square meters of dedicated space, with a possibility of expansion up to 1200 square meters. The new center in AL-Ahsa has been constructed, keeping in mind the increasing needs of the local population because of the explosive growth the region has achieved. A number of local and international businesses and industries have opened up their facilities in the region resulting in increased demand at both corporate and residential level.

Commenting on the opening of this center Engineer Jubeir pointed out that the opening of the new Al-Ahsa data center highlights Mobily’s resolve to develop infrastructure and diversify its products and services in line with the expectations of its customers. The development and construction of the data center will facilitate the expansion of network and distribution of services to facilitate customers in Al-Ahsa and will result in increased network resilience across the Kingdom.

Al-Ahsa data center is designed based upon the best practices, and is set to be among the top of the line specialized data centers from the perspective of disaster risk management, recovery and business continuity. Al-Ahsa center is geographically located at an ideal location; situated at the distance of 350 km from Riyadh, 160 km from Dammam and also close to UAE and Qatar. This will improve the coordination and synchronization between the data centers in all locations providing improved response time and improved backup support.

The new data and call center in Al-Ahsa has been designed based on the specifications of TIER II Institute (UPTIME®); the institute, based out of America has evaluated the center with the score of 99.98% for uptime and business continuity.
