Dates festival highlights Jubail heritage

The Date and Palm Festival's activities were launched on Thursday at the Al-Fanateer waterfront in Jubail Industrial City. The event, organized by the Royal Commission for Jubail (RCJ), will run through Sept. 5 and include various events centered on dates and palms and all related industries, in addition to leisure and heritage events for visitors of all ages.

According to the organizing committee, the event includes a large exhibition for luxury dates to allow the owners of dates factories in the Kingdom to showcase their products, with an allocated area for heritage crafts associated with palm trees and dates, a heritage dates market, a gallery for palm photos and a competition for the best photo of dates and palms.
This festival is the fifth event organized by the commission this year, along with the heritage, productive families, nations, youth and marine sports festivals.
The RCJ's organization of this significant event comes within its concern for social responsibility, thus leading the organization to activate and promote activities in line with the needs of Jubail residents.

Khaled Al-Shammari, deputy director of the RCJ’s social services department, said: "The 10-day festival will include various events, such as recreational activities for children and a drawing competition to highlight children's talent and creativity in the Child Oasis that will be equipped with all kinds of drawing tools."
The RCJ has invested many resources in the festival to ensure that it keeps pace with the expectations of visitors, and maintains the social and economic role of the festival.
