Canon showcases new and future products including never-before-seen module camera

The XF405 and XF400, launched today, are Canon’s latest professional camcorders. Delivering first class optics, powerful sensors and a range of versatile features, they are perfect for a broad range of video productions. Equipped with a newly developed 15x optical zoom lens (35 mm film equivalent: 25.5 mm–382.5 mm), a 1.0-Type CMOS sensor and Dual DIGIC DV 6 image processor, the cameras achieve high-quality 4K/50p images across the entire zoom range. They also offer continuous 100fps recording in Full HD in order to deliver slow motion footage. These advanced features are all integrated in a compact and lightweight body.

Professional performance and functionality - XA15 and XA11

The XA15 and XA11 are Full HD camcorders which feature stunning 20x 26.8mm-576mm optical zoom lenses to flexibly capture a variety of scenes with superb image quality. A Hi-UD lens supports the reduction of chromatic aberration and drives vivid imaging. Canon’s HD CMOS Sensor and the powerful DIGIC DV4 image processing platform deliver great performance in low light and the ability to capture superb Full HD images in 50P at 35Mbps. Wide DR mode supports the smooth compression of high luminance areas to achieve 600% DR. This makes it possible to shoot with smooth color gradation and suppressed overexposure.

Outstanding resolution and high luminance – the DP-V2411 professional reference display

Launched today, the DP-V2411 is a 24-inch professional reference display designed for 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) broadcast and film production workflows. Offering stunning image quality with high luminance and wide colour gamut, extensive functionality and advanced interfaces, the DP-V2411 is the perfect tool for broadcasters and film makers.

Next-generation imaging device – first look at the MM100-WS

On show for the first time is Canon’s next generation imaging device, the MM100-WS – a multipurpose module camera which is currently being developed by parent company, Canon Inc. With a compact body size of approximately 40 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) x 21.6 mm (d), the camera is capable of monitoring incredibly narrow spaces. Featuring a highly customizable body, it will also be used in scenarios which require the upmost durability including dust and moisture resistance. Thanks to Canon’s low light technology, the camera is capable of image capture in low-light environments with as little as 1 lux of illumination[i]. Canon plans to make the Application Programming Interface (API)[ii]available for the MM100-WS, enabling users to utilise the camera for a wide range of solutions.

Richard Shepherd, Pro Marketing Manager, Consumer Imaging, Canon Europe, comments: “IBC presents a great opportunity for us to showcase our broad range of new and existing technologies, but also gives our customers, partners and visitors insight into the innovative new solutions that are currently being developed.”
