ASEZA launches first underwater military museum

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA)  launched the first underwater military museum in the Gulf of Aqaba, providing a new and unique type of museum experience for adventure enthusiasts.

The museum will showcase 19 old military exhibits provided by the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), including tanks, an ambulance, a military crane, a personnel carrier, anti-aircraft canons, and helicopters.

Eight military equipment will be submerged at depths up to 20 meters, while the remaining exhibits will be submerged at depths up to 28 meters, resting among the coral reef.

ASEZA's Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Nayef Bakhit, hailed the "dynamic partnership" with the JAF, which exerted great efforts to erect the museum, and its ongoing support for state institutions to enhance them at various levels.

He also lauded the Royal Jordanian Navy (RJN), which secured the location and maintained public safety during the various stages of work, and the local community institutions which helped launch the museum successfully.

Commander of the RJN, Brig.Gen. Ibrahim Naimat said the launch came under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, describing it as "one-of-a-kind military museum."
