The Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality granted 540 certified factories the quality mark by the end of the year, 90 of which are outside the Kingdom.
The Commission has received 614 applications for the quality mark, and there are 74 applications under the procedure, in addition to factories operating in the sectors of mechanical and metal products, which are the most recognized for the quality mark.
The Authority also issued and updated 182 Saudi standards during the first quarter of 2019 covering various sectors of business and services such as construction, building materials, chemical and petroleum products, spinning and weaving, electrical products, mechanics, service standards, scales, etc.
The Commission has recently formed four technical teams to prepare technical standards and regulations in the fields of measurement and calibration. The National Center for Measurement and Calibration is one of the technical pillars of the measurement and calibration system in the Kingdom.
The center includes a laboratory system consisting of 30 specialized laboratories in the field of precision measurement and calibration. It is the national body entrusted with providing national support for measurement and calibration services, maintaining the accuracy of national measurement standards, and achieving the principle of metrological support for linking national measurement units with the international system.
