“The number of participating companies this year is almost twice that of last year, which was 46,” said KSU Rector Badran Al-Omar.
He said this reflects local firms’ positive feedback on government calls for both the public and private sectors to accommodate job seekers.
Al-Omar added that the number of applicants attending Sunday’s event is expected to reach 35,000, which is greater than the 20,000 last year.
However, he said that the number of applicants through the website or electronic portal this year reached 13,000, lower compared to last year’s 21,000.
“The number of those following up on job applications reached 13,000 this year, compared to 4,000 last year,” he said.
He added that 6,000 job seekers are expected to benefit from the career week this year, compared to 4,500 last year.
Late last year, the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the availability of jobs for qualified women. Interviews were held in November.
This was followed by interviews of young women with bachelor’s degrees to fill positions as teachers. The successful applicants were hired as teachers of English and art.
